wow, and after maybe a brief year away, I found myself totally addicted to k-drama watching and marathoning up into late hours. i suppose only a few rotations would offer the luxury of free time - guilty pleasures of indulging in fantasy - non-real world things, but then again, there's not much real world going on right now requiring too much commitment.
i was pretty good with Tree with Deep Roots, following weekly. But the acting of Jang Hyuk was very unbearable to watch. Instead, watching City Hunter was a much different pace, with similar action/thriller/love story/political plots all twisted together with appropriately-matched musical scores to enhance what was on screen, well-written plots and decent acting in all cast members.
i would rate them as equal when all things are accounted for.
tree with deep roots was gorgeous though! and a thrill to watch the main lead (king sejong) act. Incredible performance. whereas city hunter was strong acting in the lead as well, with perhaps less maturity, but enough for what the drama called for.
enjoyed both immensely, and after a marathon of city hunter in the last week and a half and many late nights, I am spent! it was so good to just escape for a moment into that manga-action-hero world to balance out the bore of psychiatry.
totally in withdrawal state now. what to do?
